The leader in the outdoor, three-dimensional sign letters industry, Gemstar’s parent company, Gemini, was incorporated in 1964 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The company operates throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with headquarters in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, where Gemstar is located today. Gemstar then known by Gemini Inc., began producing custom plastic parts such as instrument housings, belt guards and machine enclosures. Utilizing vacuum forming, pressure forming, rotational molding and custom fabrication.
VersaPro® cases debuted. The transit cases were designed for the transportation and containment of delicate components and precision instruments. The cases provided such superior protection that one was selected to house the nuclear football used by the President of the United States.
Stronghold® Rotational molding capabilities are added. The manufacturing process is used to produce single-walled transit cases, double-walled heavy-duty shipping cases and a variety of custom plastic parts. Gemstar helped design and manufacture a rotationally molded part that was included on the Mars Rover.
The Sentinel® injection-molded case line was introduced. The line is continually being developed and expanded. In the same year, Gemstar became a separate division of Gemini Incorporated, covering the manufacture of all cases and custom plastic products.
